I'm writing this while thinking about the projects I've done recently, both for this class and just for fun. All of these projects have one thing in common: technical complexity. Reflecting on this, I feel that I have been drawn towards pursuing technical projects, perhaps because maybe I feel that non-technical projects aren't worth pursuing. But I don't think that I actually feel this way.

Recently, the first thing that I think about when starting a project is "how can I make this feel revolutionary?" The answer to this is to always come up with something technically complex, and let the aesthetics and substance follow. By doing so, most of my time is spent trying to get the technicals to work, and less time is spent on the actual design, aesthetics, and form.

When I see other projects from my classmates, the ones that stand out to me are the simple ones — the ones that aren't technically impressive, but yet somehow portray some kind of well-crafted aesthetic or message. Seeing these projects make me question whether I'm putting too much work into my projects. But then I realize that we all are putting the same amount of effort — it's just the distribution of this effort that's different.

Like everything, this needs a good balance, and I need to tip the scale a bit. But I also don't know how to start pursuing non-technical projects.
